Camps are facilitated by members of the award-winning LASA Robotics team, offering mentorship and an introduction to competitive robotics.
LASA Robotics SMART Camps are week-long STEM discovery camps designed for students entering 2nd through 7th grades. Facilitated by members of the award-winning LASA Robotics team, these camps provide hands-on learning experiences in basic engineering and design principles. Students engage in fun STEM challenges, building and coding with LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime, LEGO® Mindstorms® EV3s, and VEX V5 robots. The curriculum is structured to introduce fundamental engineering concepts through interactive activities and culminates in a friendly competition where students showcase their robotic creations. Campers are separated by age into different classrooms, ensuring age-appropriate instruction and challenges. The program aims to foster self-confidence and an introduction to the world of robotics and STEM.
A typical day begins with STEM-based icebreaker activities and a tutorial on the robotics kits. Students then spend the majority of the week designing, building, and testing their robots, with the final day dedicated to a competition with prizes.
The camp is ideal for incoming 2nd-7th graders of all experience levels interested in engineering, robotics, and teamwork.
