About this camp

The High School Research Academy (HSRA) at The University of Texas at Austin offers a five-week, immersive, hands-on interdisciplinary research experience for high school students. Participants actively engage in authentic research projects within UT's College of Natural Sciences laboratories, collaborating with peers, undergraduate students, and faculty. Students gain practical exposure to real-world research, learning general and advanced lab techniques transferable to future academic and professional pursuits. The program emphasizes the joy of discovery through direct involvement in ongoing research. Each participant spends approximately 15-25 hours per week with their research group, with specific schedules distributed by the assigned lab. Beyond lab work, students attend weekly seminars hosted by UT guest speakers and present their research findings at a closing HSRA Research Symposium, receiving a printed poster of their work. They also earn NSC309 UT extension course credit.
